ALICIA’s FlORALS

Alicia's Florals was officially started by me, Alicia Baerg in 2016 in Victoria, BC.

A friend was getting married and was going to do it themselves with flowers from Costco. I offered my amateur services and with the help of a florist friend created my first wedding florals. It was an adventure but something I quickly fell in love with. What started out as a new creative venture, soon became a passion. I was inspired by the beauty of nature and loved being able to work in this new medium. After creating for a number of friends' weddings, I was inspired to step out and officially create Alicia's Florals. In the summer of 2018, I moved over to Vancouver and have been creating here ever since.

Alicia's Floral's creations embrace the curves and shapes present in the natural world and create movement for the eye. While I aim to achieve balance, you'll be hard pressed to find a perfectly symmetrical arrangement in my pieces. My artistic background inspires me to create pieces that focus on colour + movement, and are a little bit wild.

Alicia Baerg is the owner and lead designer here. I regularly hire other wonderful people to support me on my work, but mostly run a one woman show (although my husband, family and friends are a huge support). I have learnt this craft through a lot of trial and error and the support of some generous local florists who have been willing to share their expertise. I’ve taken a number of courses online and am always exploring the world of floristry.

I’m proud to be a small business here on the lovely west coast. I work out of my small home studio in the Vancouver neighbourhood of Fairview. Along with being a florist I also work part time as an occupational therapist working with children and their families. My floristry work is my creative expression allowing me to connect with nature through art.

As someone who grew up on the west coast and loves enjoying nature, I am aware of how the floral industry can have a negative impact on the environment. I work hard to find ways to minimize my impact, from using recycled paper to package our bouquets, to sourcing vintage and secondhand vessels and using only locally grown blooms, I do my best to keep my footprint small.  I am working on minimizing my plastic use, recycling and reusing what I can, not using floral foam, not adding any chemicals or paint to flowers, composting floral waste and using as much organic and/or spray free blooms and foliage as possible.

Alicia's Florals uses only locally grown flowers from here in BC.

I love partnering with local flower farmers and some that I work with are (in no particular order):

River and Sea Flowers

Urban Farm Girl

Yakoshiro Farm

Busy Bee Farm and Florals

Twigs Twisted

Cartref Gardens

I’m always looking to connect with new local farmers, so fill out the form below if you’re a local farm that would like to connect!

Alicia's Florals is inspired by movement & colour, can be described as romantic & wild and is local flower powered.
