Spring Photoshoot - E+R

This photoshoot was a part of a giveaway I collaborated in with some other local vendors.

Elizabeth and Raaghav who won, are good friends of mine so I was so excited when they won! This spring photoshoot had some of my absolute favourite flowers - anemones and some red currant flowers. Hellebore, narcisses, cherry blossoms, tulips and hyacinth.

Union Photoshoot

This photoshoot with Union Bridal was to highlight their new elopement collection.

My favourite was the Bette gown - timeless, modern and elegant, the back of this dress is to die for. Shown first below.

I wanted to challenge myself with this bouquet - only three ingredients - orchid, anemones and roses. I was inspired by Australian florists like Francis Floristry and Anatomy of Flowers who are so talented at this style of floristry. It challenged me to use materials differently - this bouquet was structured, bold yet elegant.

Thank you to the amazing other vendors I collaborated with for this:

Easter Installation

I had the opportunity to create for The Way Vancouver in March 2020 for their online easter service. They wanted it to feel like the musicians were coming out of a garden while in this industrial studio. I worked closely with the videographers and creative director to plan and create for this piece. During the installation phase I worked closely with the videographer to ensure that the installations met the cinematography vision and needs of the various video shoots, adjusting as needed.

We had about 5 hours to set up for a full day of filming and then a few hours to clean up afterwards. My team of four worked hard and fast for 5 hours to create this beautiful floral installation. As seen in the photos one of the structures was 6 feet tall, another 4 feet with additional branches high above the flowers.

For this installation I did not use any floral foam. Floral foam is a harmful, chemical laden floral product that releases micro plastics into the water and ecosystems. It is a green block of foam that is common in many floral installations. Instead I used reusable mechanics such as chicken wire, wooden posts, buckets, water tubes, moss and small vessels with water to create the structure and provide hydration for the florals.

All flowers and foliage was locally grown here in BC. Twigs Twisted Floral Farm provided much of the foliage for this design. Flowers were grown by a number of local farms.

Thank you to The Way for having me a part of this beautiful project.

Amy + Tony

I had the joy of creating for my friends Amy and Tony this past July! Their wedding was originally scheduled for February 2021, but as Tony’s family is from out of Canada, they delayed to ensure that they would be able to make it. It ended up being a beautiful day full of celebrating with friends and family.

Here’s what they had to say about the florals:

“Alicia went above and beyond for our wedding day and we truly couldn't be happier with the love, creativity and beauty that she brought to our wedding day. Due to COVID restrictions we changed our date THREE times over a year and a half and Alicia was gracious, flexible and incredibly supportive in the midst of such a chaotic and difficult time to plan a wedding. This also meant that Alicia helped change the florals and our vision for our wedding to fit the season that we got married in to ensure that we used seasonal and local florals and changed our colour palette to match as well. We weren't exactly sure what we wanted with florals in the beginning and Alicia spent the time to help us figure out a vision and delivered the most beautiful florals we could imagine all within our budget! We love that Alicia is so environmentally conscious as that is something we value as well, so it was great to know that she had considered all the best and most ethical ways to source our wedding florals. On our wedding day Alicia and her team worked flawlessly to execute our floral vision and coordinate with other vendors in setting things up and dropping off our bouquets so that we could be stress free on the day. Hiring Alicia was one of the best decisions we made for our special day. We can't say enough good things about Alicia and her team and would definitely recommend her for your wedding!”

Elizabeth + Raaghav

Elizabeth and Raaghav had a beautiful micro wedding in October! It was such a joy to create for these two friends. I was inspired by the beautiful red leaves to create this beautiful red colour palette. I used flowers grown in my own garden - cosmos and cherry caramel phlox. Other flowers came from Twigs Twisted in Langley. All local goodness!

The ceremony was held at the Little White Chapel in Chilliwack.
